As if they come by themselves, out of nowhere. Why? Because they come, from out of the system boundaries, the supersystem, or the inclusive system, the system including the system under observation, under study. Be that the system that we live in.

The previous paths, the paths already in, within the system are circumvented, they are not visited any more, they are not included in the paths taken, the new paths.

As the paths do not include the ideas, whose extent is confined within the system, that avoids clashes inherent in the system, only. The feeling of helplessness and loss disappears, it does not materialise.

Clashes ensue following the paradigm of Gödel, as they develop out of contradicting rules that nullify each other, as a result there is loss of consistency

It donned to me. The subjective vs. objective contradiction surpasses the boundaries of science and extends to the structures of society. Societies are built along the lines of seemingly objective perspectives. Governments, agencies, corporations demand to submit and surrender our subjective nature, to their ways of seeing and interpreting of what is objective. An all pervading, arbitrary, dominating directive alien to the notion of objective. An objective which its primary and foremost goal is monetary. Maximise profits and minimise losses.

The objective loses its meaning. The objective that serves the purpose of a government, an agency, a corporation is elevated to the objective of the whole, the sum of the individuals in a society, and demands to be their objective. For all individuals to submit their subjective to the objective which is self-serving to the needs of the government, agency, corporation. It is beyond even the objective that science today promotes. Whereas science uses its methods to make sure for what will be accepted as objective, it satisfies criteria that are acceptable by logic, the objective promoted by governments, the criteria used are biased towards serving their needs. And further they have the affront to use their brand of objective as the objective offered by science.

What defines the objective in the mentality of individuals that run governments, agencies, corporations? They are so overwhelmed in their tasks, so deeply involved in their brand of objective, that they loose track of reality, their reality is so squeezed, the boundaries narrowed, they are unable to see the bigger picture. Their mind present to their consciousness, this limited view of reality, as a whole. The part becomes their whole world. They see the part as a whole and they attribute that part as a whole, and not what really is, just a part.

And to that view they require our obedience, our blind submission. Does that have further implications to the monetising urge that pervades and overwhelms society norms? That everything humans do, every human action as having the goal to maximise profits? That every thought, every ability human possess to be directed towards, to be used for, a servant to accumulating economic value? For every act to be measured in dollars, pounds, euros, namely in currency? According to that view, it won't be long, monetising forces will stick a price tag to planet earth? To the air we breathe, the space we use, the thoughts we think, the lives we live?

It goes deeper than that. It goes as far as what we think is objective. It is rooted down to when we ourselves try to elevate our subjective view to an objective one. Regard our subjective views as being objective. Our ways of seeing the world as the only ways to see the world. That goes down to submitting to the notion that the world is filled with imperfect views (in the theory of minds, that particular paragraph with the monkeys), that goes even further about solipsism and our infallible selves. We ignore that in the same way that we require from other individuals to let us make sense out of the world by ourselves, at the same time we deny others the right to make sense of the world in their own way. Our subjective sense of the world becomes overriding in our contact and behavior that we do not allow, simply deny, other individuals their subjectiveness.

And this is the very same tendency in individuals responsible for putting forward the guidelines that mark the decisions made for large social groups and their actions more serious as it involves of imposing their will in a lot more individuals than in one to one cases. Geared? Chaotic? A minute change in the parameters that has an enormous effect in the outcome state? The variables that determine the outcome state? And sensitive dependence to the initial conditions?

We require to stick to our subjective views, to defend our subjectivity since this is the only way to make sense of the world, this is the way we acquire meaning of the world. If we relinquish that right there will be a discrepancy in our actions. We will not be able to function in a way that is meaningful to us. Our functions will be compromised. Our functions are compromised. We will not be doing a service to ourselves as well as to other individuals. To individuals close to us as well as individuals that our actions has an influence on them. They are connected. We owe to ourselves, to our consciousness, to make meaning of the world and to use that meaning to guide our problem solving/decision making part of our consciousness.

Without it our lives will be meaningless, the societies we built meaningless, our existence meaningless. We should not relish our subjectivity to anyone for anything, we should not aim to subdue anyone's subjectivity to ours, we should not aim towards submitting the subjectivity of others to ours. We should not expect others to submit to our subjectivity in whatever way, may that be force, language, persuasion.

There is no common sense. There is nothing common, in whatever way it can be expressed or interpreted, in the way we view the world. Each individual views the world, in a deeply private and personal standpoint and any attempt to use or enforce such averaged out notions, to such deeply felt issues is suspicious and alien to human nature.

We should listen before we talk.

The world must be freed from the current version of economy. The model doesn't work. Human individuals are not destined as minions in the hands of the privileged, that economy creates. Economy's role is to sort out the affairs of all individuals, in a manner that takes away from their hands the tasks of survival and self-preservation, deep-seated within each individual and such a goal is not served with the current economic model.

There is no survival success value of the survival of the fittest that passes through at the expense of the survival of the rest of human individuals. It is a pure disgrace the state of the world now-a-days, people struggling to survive amidst the opulence of the few at the current age and stage of humanity.

Knowledge, how awesome it might appear, it is still the tip of the iceberg, of what yet, is to be known. It is imperfect, by virtue of not being the whole, of what there is to be known. Or, it never ends, therefore, what we know now, should never be used, to kill off what is to be known in the future.

Should let it grow unhindered. It will find its way.

Should put in mind. Alternative ideas, attack them from any angle possible, contribute if you may, instead of killing them by ridiculing the individuals that foster these ideas.

Instead of, killing thus, any ideas, is better to kill off the urge, to destroy new ideas, again, no matter how absurd they may sound, or how out of reason they might be to us, judged, by what we know now.

Why would someone, would feel compelled to ridicule, the bearers of weird ideas? Their prominent position, assumed in their minds, at stake?

A direct consequence of the prevailing norms of competition, in its worse form, manifestation. What you do not understand and fathom, kill it. All in an attempt to preserve cherished status, in the world of ideas. So that, the ground beneath one's feet, doesn't give in.

The more and more I think about it, the more I am convinced, that these are the makings of the competitive streak, Darwin's theories have left upon us. Compete, to your heart's delight.

However, evidence is emerging, that it is not competition but rather replacement, that governs evolution.

Replacement by an even more fit, more robust alternative, a bifurcation in the evolutionary tree that grows by itself for itself, being more securely adapted to, to its surrounding conditions. To my mind even independently, to other pre-existing or even newly emerging elements, sprouting in concurrent time.

Principles that fire up in almost any activity, individuals are engaged in, the emeeeeerging collaboration trends in the world of individuals, away from soul-destroying, mind-numbing competition.

For me it makes sense, without even the need, to back it up with any hard scientific evidence. I see no need for science here. Seen science as an endeavor of our conscious mind, for a secure foothold, of what imagination and creativity has borne out, in the first place, but can not overcome its self-imposed limits. Science in itself cannot be creative.

It is not hard knowledge, evidence based, firm, solid pieces of knowledge, that matter most. You can extend, expand so much, as already pre-set boundaries, allow you. But what the goldmine is, within the science processes, what leads in leaps and bounds, are the weird and wonderful ideas created, that count.

How changes in societies are effected?

It is not the change that happens at the top that matters, but the changes that take place at the bottom, the foundations of a system, the agents of a system, the human individuals in societies.

Any change in the perspective, the outlook, the viewpoint, the behaviour, the rules of conduct of the human individual, or whatever other term is used to express what drives the acts performed or undertaken by agents in the system society, every activity that unfolds in all societies, the world over.

Changes that are effected on the ideas, no matter how little or big, human individuals carry. Big or little ideas that explain all acts individuals undertake, what is behind of everything that move societies back and forth at any given moment, but always forth when looked at from the perspective of longer time intervals.

Social systems, with a variety of institutions devised amidst them, tend to preserve what is gained, assumed to be the cornerstone, the pinnacle, the panacea of all societal structures tried and tested so far. Their actions are directed towards all the ideas held by human individuals. Their attempts aim at moulding the changes ideas can undergo. What changes are allowed and what are not. At the end, they become reactionary, subversive, they hold back the proliferation of ideas, stifle progress.

But the kind of changes, ideas undergo, can not be directed by the narrow boundaries institutions prescribe, especially when it is taken into account that these institutions are heavily influenced by factors alien to the nature of the human individual, and driven by the most primitive of principles, of the domination of groups of individuals by any other group of individuals for whatever reason or other arbitrary viewpoint possible.

Human history is a treasure, sort to speak, of a large cohort of examples where groups, based on race, colour, religion, nationality, birth, gender, birthplace, or whatever other attribute, trivial or not that divides humanity into groups.

All these divisions, one by one have been tried and tested, and eventually overthrown and abandoned and all started as changes in the ideas carried in the minds of individuals and subsequently as changes in the structure of societies built.

The last bastion, the domination by groups of individuals based on the possession of money is underway, and eventually to come into its liberating conclusion.

There is something, the word profound comes into my mind, hidden in this excerpt. I would feed it in my chaotic mind and see what it will come up with.

Talking about paradigm shifts, in social norms, modes of behaviour, ways of dealing with stuff. The problems individuals face in life. Problems that seek a solution. In seek for solutions.

Certainly, a solution, an alternative way to deal with problems, might already be there. It exists. It has been discovered. But to no avail.

'mundane'

Why it sticks into my mind? There should be something there. Mundane, as something that is already there, and it is repeated on and on. Routines that have been adopted and followed, even faithfully for that matter. It hardly provides any room for change. It is not a fertile ground for changes. Certainly, does not excite individuals involved, that are participating in such an approach, as they undertake the tasks involved. I would even say that the individuals are trapped, within narrow boundaries. Limiting in a manner, their expression.

Still, 'mundane' is powerful as by itself, in right or wrong ways, is what holds societies compact. All the processes involved, adhered steadfastly by individuals, give the necessary momentum, provide the 'body' that despite where the processes lead to, to useful or useless goals or something in between, nevertheless build solid structures.

Solid structures, the necessary fiber, the glue that holds societies intact as the time goes by. Mundane processes incorporating the dynamics necessary to preserve continuity through time.

And the 'tipping points', changes introduced while maintaining the structures, the 'body' being kept intact, need to be adopted individually out of informed approaches, countless acts of assessing, weighing, trying, testing and re-testing
as 'it takes masses of people to shift', so the final(?) 'tip' would come, I would say, effortlessly, as if by itself, without major upheavals

Revolution at the level of the single individual, small 'revolutions' introduced within the wider context of societies, the essence of chaos. The minute changes in an individual effects changes on the initial conditions of the systems 'societies', and by sensitive dependence 'tips' societal behaviour in a new direction.

Or even drive people, in groups or individually, to seek just another saviour of humanity whereas the only saviour that exists, is the very own human individual, himself or herself. Overwhelmed by our emotions, we are incapable of distilling out of the chaotic situation the lessons to be taught out of the rich bed of solutions on offer. The novel properties of the emerged state. Succumbing to the urge laid down by emotions, nagging problems will continue to scourge the individual.

The human mind is equipped to deal with such situations ... situations where a quick, fast solution is required. It uses our quantum mechanical computation processes based upon the quantum mechanical superposition principle.

this statement in LuatViet.com, an advocates and solicitors firm from Vietnam, struck me as a misnomer, in the way I see it. Why would the meaning coming out from that sentence feel odd to me? To halt chaotic development? As far as I could say, individuals should not wish to halt chaotic development as chaotically developed states are the ones that explore all possible arrangements and provide the solutions someone seeks for. Halting chaotic development you stop a tool with which you explore a given field. Without that tool you would not be able to develop the appropriate solutions for the problem at hand.

Chunks of time for a chaotic development to devolve, chunks which might exceed the expectations of time limits as perceived by the individuals involved. The attention of individuals need to span through the length of time a chaotic state development require to fulfill its goal, the attractors final states to which they lead to. The widely discomforting feeling individuals are grabbed with, is when they find themselves within the transitory stage of the developing chaotic situation, what is referred to as being amidst the chaos, as emotions run high.

The main concern is to make sure that the initial conditions are kept intact as the desired final state, the attractors to be reached dictate. Further, while in the process of developing should make sure that the objectives are not compromised.

Certainly the time evolution that development takes might not follow the time evolution of the individuals involved. It would take time for the appropriate attractors to emerge. Time which might even be more even from the life cycle of human lives could span. And certainly, while in that transitory stage, what the individuals experience is confusing and disheartening. What one experiences and attributes as chaotic. But that view is shortsighted and largely prone to interference by emotionally triggered factors. It clouds judgment, as individuals are oriented towards satisfying short-term goals.

The chaotic development looked as a whole? A whole that is unfolding not in space but in time? States ever changing till they reach a level that can be called final states? Final states that can be desirable or undesirable? Their course determined by the parametres, and specifically the values of the parametres at the start of their evolution? Parameters, and values of parametres that define the initial conditions? And the chaotic development undergoes by following the dictum of sensitive dependence, in the initial conditions?

Laws devised should set the parameter values defining the initial conditions which, after the chaotic development will lead to the final states which are deemed as desirable? The sought up attractors? The chaotic progress checked while is developing by measuring the convergence or divergence towards the final states? The final states being the desirable states and would represent the goals sought? Take into account a measure based in the concept of the Lyapunov exponents?

Certainly Vietnam's desire for a stable housing market should be aware of the pitfalls capitalist economies are writhed with. The greed of the entrepreneurs involved inherent in the capitalist way of thinking. If full civil act capacity and the dossier required to submit to provincial People's Committees aim towards ensuring that the initial conditions necessary for the sought after final states in the chaotic development, are intact, s not clear. An interesting account of monopolies evolution in America and the result of the current framework of today's multinational companies. Certainly they are responsible for quite a lot of the misery prevalent in this world a Darwinian parody played over and over but from the other point they provided the infrastructure which in today's state of the world is capable of sustaining its growth.

As, behind the monopoly idea is included the creation of an infrastructure necessary to furnish the needs of ever increasing populations in a suitable manner. Everybody is out there in order to cheat everyone else. Why? It largely comes out from a lack of trust in themselves. Always in doubt of themselves. Self-respect at its lowest points.

Society demands a lot. High expectations, as a result everyone feels under par. As if they do not amount to anything, therefore they hide their inner self from other people in fear of being exposed. They hide even from (and especially) their own self. They feel they have to cheat their way out in.

Instead of being themselves, they pretend to be somebody else. A trend, a mode of behaviour which is aptly taken up by media of whatever form, which bombard the public with unreal, idealized images of certain individuals, celebrities and the like, perpetuating an image of inadequacy in the individuals at large, hugely exploited for senseless financial gains, undermining further individuals self-esteem and their development of empowered personalities.

A reciprocal relationship where their short-sighted, petty financial gains and the drive of individuals towards empowerment act as incompatible forces. Their incessant greed for more monies counteract the development of empowered personalities in individuals.

The more their gains the deeper their readership disorients into meaningless personal states.

Quantum mechanical states and the act of observation that decoheres the superposition of states into a single state, transfered into the context of human interactions and be used to direct the actions of the individual in dealing with problems faced in the course of his/her life, seeking solutions?

The observer influencing the kind of the single state that is instantiated by the individual under observation?

The laws are based on the assumption that human individuals are in conflict and not in co-operation. That comes from the acceptance of competition as it is portrayed in the darwinian theory.

How would law-making be different if co-operation instead of conflict is recognised as the primary drive in the acts individuals engage into? Certainly that will follow what is assumed actually drives the lives of individuals. If we assume that either co-operation or conflict is the main drive within an individual.

We should take both cases and see what might happen. Each case separate, either conflict or co-operation. How it would be if an individual assumes conflict, to deal with a situation and how it would be when it assumes co-operation to provide solution for the same problem.

What differ are the variables and parametres each approach would consider prevalent in any given situation. If it assumes conflict, it would consider different variables and parametres than when it assumes co-operation.

There we go to the quantum mechanical states and decoherence. As any situation in the world exists in a superposition of states, both states of either conflict or co-operation, co-exist simultaneously and what will be instantiated by the individual observed, depend on the act of observation.

And there comes the observer. According to his/her prevalent stance, co-operation or conflict, decoheres the superposition of states in the observed individual, in the same state as the observer. The observed individual assumes a similar stance as the observer and abides to the same parametres and variables connected with either conflict or co-operation.

If it is conflict the observer's prevalent stance then the decoherence effected, leads likewise to a state characterized by conflict in the observed. A clash is imminent, in whatever way the psychosynthesis of the observed individual use to deal with. Fight or flight.

If it is co-operation, the prevalent stance of the individual observer, decoherence will likewise lead the observed individual to the single state defined by co-operation.

Law-making and collapse of quantum mechanical superposition of states? Laws engineered alongside the doctrines of quantum theory? Concentrate on the parametres and variables prevalent in co-operation than in conflict? Social engineering towards co-operation and not conflict?

I gather that co-operation is more amenable than conflict in a society.

What are we?

A void, a vacuum, an emptiness that we hopelessly try to fill in with a myriad of activities crammed tight in the tiniest of spaces in respect with the vastness of the void we try to fill in.

Our every day lives is packed with activities, be that the jobs we do to finance our ways of living, the entertainment methods we choose, our enjoyment, our social lives.

But if we stray, accidentally or not, even for a second from the fervor that our activities bring forth, our minds wander, into the void that surrounds us. We are immediately filled with unease, we find ourselves lost within its unyielding emptiness. Primal angst engulf us.

Curb not, embrace anger. Instabilities triggered by emotions induce bifurcations to new attractors.

In the "Mind and Brain, Chaos and Quantum Mechanics" publication, in the chapter dealing with the non-linear synapse, page 22, it is mentioned that:

"Such non-linearities make it possible for unstable fluctuation at the synaptic vesicle or ion channel level within a critically poised neuron, to precipitate cellular instability and subsequent global neurosystem bifurcation."

What drew my attention, was the precipitation of cellular instability and the subsequent global system bifurcation. As a result of the ensued bifurcation the system's phase space is explored and a new attractor emerges; along the lines mentioned elsewhere in the paper, namely in the Electrodynamics chapter, page 18:

"... falling into an existing attractor in the case of a recognised odour, but bifurcating to form a new attractor in the case of a newly learned stimulus."

Leaving aside the case for the stimulus eliciting the response and concentrating on the matter of the instability precipitated by the unstable fluctuation at the synaptic vesicle or ion channel level, as well as, the non-linearities as being responsible, for a later use.

It occurred to me, that instability is a common feature in the lives of human individuals, triggered and driven by the emotional aspects of our character. Our whole being is in turmoil, when we are grappled by our emotions, being triggered by unstable fluctuations, in whatever way these can be imagined. It is what kick starts a bout of emotional outbursts. Fluctuations presented as changes in the usual patterns of activities, encountered in every day life. Even slight, minute differences, are enough.

Such fluctuations have also been refered to as

"... the fluctuating energy level that is responsible for varying physical and mental states.."

Emotions, their significance obvious as they are described as

"Emotions are evolutionary adaptations, as they enhance an organism's ability to experience, reproduce and evaluate its environment and thus increase its likelihood to survive and reproduce, by providing the simplest plans for evolutionary most common actions needed,..."

and as well

"Our emotions are a valuable source of information. Our emotions help us make decisions. Studies show that when a person's emotional connections are severed in the brain, he can not make even simple decisions. Why? Because he doesn't know how he will feel about his choices."

We rely heavily on our emotions to guide us in life, being the source of information, but not only. It is foremost, because of the ability conferred to us, to create new information.

Therefore, it is not a matter of

"Take measures such as anger management training to tame your beast!"

.... a person void of emotional content? Sanitizing ourselves from the most valuable tools we have at hand, our emotions? What leads, what induces states on a par to schizophrenia?

"People diagnosed with schizophrenia usually experience a combination of positive (i.e. hallucinations, delusions, racing thoughts), negative (i.e. apathy, lack of emotion, poor or non-existant social functioning), and cognitive (disorganized thoughts, difficulty concentrating and/or following instructions, difficulty completing tasks, memory problems)."

.... experience apathy, lack of emotion, poor or non-existant social functioning. It is not our emotions that are at fault, but the inability, the unwillingness to learn how to handle what our emotions bring forth.

Instead, it sounds more promising to do what this website proclaims:

"Give your feelings, good or bad, full rein and you will be bursting with energy."

Therefore our goal should not be to curb our emotions but instead to learn from them, to take advantage of the possibilities they open to us, to create new attractors. As emotional engagement brings about instabilities in our being, and the instabilities bifurcations, bifurcations to new attractors, which equates to learning. Learning which provides solutions to problems we are asked to deal with.

So after we recovered from, or fresh out of an emotional outburst, we should take stalk and capitulate on what we learned out of it. Identifying the new attractors which have been created as a results of the induced bifurcations.

Any other way or ignore and continue on, our lives are left with an emotional baggage to carry along with its whatever sinister implications, for us and the lives of the individuals around us.

Should embrace our chaotic lives.

In page 231 of James Gleick book "Chaos, making a new science" in the footnote describes how to emulate a Mandelbrot set

"A Mandelbrot set program needs just a few essential pieces. The main engine is a loop of instructions that takes its starting complex number and applies the arithmetical rule to it. For the Mandelbrot set, the rule is this: z-> z(square)+ c, where z begins at zero and c is the complex number corresponding to the point being tested. So take 0, multiply it by itself, and add the starting number; take the result-the starting number-multiply it by itself, and add the starting number; take the new result, multiply it by itself, and add the starting number."

Iterations at the heart of the Mandelbrot set that reveal stunning worlds and if the iterations continue unabated the points plotted can not escape the pull of the set, balanced between competing attractors.

What can this tell us about our lives? The worlds we create and we live in? The same principles apply, as well. The iterations, that give rise to the mathematical objects of the Mandelbrot sets, do happen in our every day lives as well. Certainly they can not be formulated mathematically, rigorously or not, but they 'live', they are inherent in the ways we spend our lives, the many tasks we repeat daily on and on, in and through the simple rules that govern our daily acts, the communities, the corporations we are part of, all the systems we have built up to now and continue to build.

We can not define them, they do not have a rigid form, escape our reasoned intuitions but nevertheless they are there.

In the same page continues,

"A complex number is written with two parts: for example, 2 + 3i (the address for the point at 2 east and 3 north on the complex plane)."

And if the notion of a complex number does not have a meaningful counterpart in our lives, the plotting of that number, the point represented with the 2 east and 3 north coordinates, do have. It represents the state we are in, the state we have acquired by virtue of the system which we are part of. And our coordinates, our complex number, is determined by the rules that define the system and confine it, at the same time. The rules be that norms, regulations, laws or whatever other prescriptions exist that define the boundaries and therefore the extents of our state in the system we belong to.

In page 232, the footnote continues,

"To break out of this loop, the program needs to watch the running total. If the total heads off to infinity, moving farther and farther from the center of the plane, the original point does not belong to the set, and if the running total becomes greater than 2 or smaller than -2 in either its real or imaginary part, it is surely heading off to infinity-the program can move on. But if the program repeats the calculation many times without becoming greater than 2, then the point is part of the set."

And there is the crunch, as continuously experiment and test the system we are part of, that defines the state we are in, testing its tolerance will determine whether a certain norm, or rule or any other prescribed guideline, is heading into infinity or not, whether it belongs into the set or not. If it belongs into the set it will allow the iterations to continue, it will continue to be balanced under the influence of the existing competing attractors. If it is not it will be lost for ever, away into infinity and into nothingness. It is not part of the set.

Chaos rules our lives, the systems we built and defines what norms, what regulations, what laws are applicable. That have a chance at all. Whatever falls under the influence of the attracting basins survives, whatever is not, perishes and is banished. And this applies to every human system built, at whatever level. The norms, the regulations, the laws are constantly tested and if they fall outside the influence of the attracting basins they do not stand a chance of surviving. They perish, languish into oblivion, vanish for ever. And what finally determines the attracting basins? To which each norm, each regulation, each law should be attracted to?

The human individual defines the attracting basins, as it is the entity that makes them up and spawn such systems. The single individual is more susceptible to ideas. Ideas that constantly test the norms, the regulations, the laws and is the one that can freely generate new ideas, unbiased, unhindered by the self-preservation angst organisations suffer. Organisations are rigid structures unable to adapt as quickly as the human single individual can. History bears witness as countless norms and laws have perished as they journeyed to infinity and oblivion as they were not part of the attracting basins and countless more keep perishing and will perish as the human kind draws closer to its goal.

Redundant concepts perpetrate illusions

Illusions can be directly attributed to redundant concepts the collective human mind has accumulated in its efforts to understand reality. These concepts as they continue to be in force, muddle up the human mind's further attempts to elucidate reality.

Illusions emerged and are propagated by the mental constructs human individuals create/d in order to understand nature's workings mainly by philosophy. In the myriads of concepts which they do not have a foothold in reality. Of course human individuals have employed their imagination in order to understand reality. This led/leads to the creation of abstract entities and rules of practice in order to be able to expand beyond a limited area. Being consistent, as what has been contemplated in the past had to be the starting point for what to be contemplated in the future. Need of continuity.

But the final goal is the elucidation of a particular process and the concepts needed to do so are finite and specific. That means a lot of the concepts invented need to be abandoned, their use being temporary, products of a transitional stage. Once the main concepts have been defined, the redundant concepts are not needed anymore. Their use obsolete. This can be seen in the words, that even in every day life have gone out of fashion, become forgotten and discarded. The same goes for models that redundant concepts have built and have been employed to explain natural phenomena.

In what is known as a paradigm shift, old ways of thinking, collective or individual, are completely abandoned, erased from memory never to be visited again, utterly overwhelmed by new ways of thinking, new ideas. When paradigm shifts happen to single individuals the change is so complete the old ways of thinking lapse into oblivion. If by any chance the old self appears, in whatever way at any point after, is confronted with disbelief. Old ways of thinking seem alien to the point the individual wonders how was it possible to have embraced such ideas and does not recognise itself.

In the book of Bill Bryson, 'A short history of nearly everything', there is an account of ways of thought, widely accepted, that have been abandoned. It was in 1796 that Georges Cuvier put forward for the first time a formal theory of extinctions.

"His belief was that from time to time the Earth experienced global catastrophes in which groups of creatures were wiped out. For religious people, including Cuvier himself, the idea raised uncomfortable implications since it suggested an unaccountable casualness on the part of Providence. To what end would God create species only to wipe them out later? The notion was contrary to the belief in the Great Chain of Being, which held that the world was carefully ordered and that every living thing within it had a place and purpose, and always had and always would. Thomas Jefferson for one couldn't abide the thought that whole species would ever be permitted to vanish (or come to that, to evolve)."

Deep-rooted religious beliefs were at question there. At the beginning the idea that whole groups of animals were repeatedly wiped out and replaced with new sets were ignored, resisted, mocked and ridiculed. Charles Lyell, who geologists admit as the father of modern geological thought allegedly said:

"Never was there a dogma more calculated to foster indolence, and to blunt the keen edge of curiosity."

Though it was he who proved to be calculating in that matter, despite what he has contributed for the advance of geology. And it wasn't until the 1980s that the theory of extinctions finally won and the old ways of thinking abandoned:

"It is a testament to the strength of Lyell's sway that in the 1980s, when geologists had to abandon just a part of his theory to accommodate the impact theory of extinctions, it nearly killed them."

In the same way have been abandoned and if not any remnants still lingering in the minds of people should be wiped out leaving no trace at all, are concepts that stirred the hearts and directed the lives of many people. Concepts which have been used to erect huge artificial divides among groups of people, nations and their use brought only strife and destruction.

Throwing overboard relentlessly whatever is remotely connected with what is not agreed now.

Single individuals, as well as all the structures built and maintained by individuals, have a tendency, for various reasons, to hold on to old practices and ignore the new. Such a tendency, to whatever degree is adhered to, suppresses progress and hinders natural development based on notions that what have worked well in the past, it works in the present and it will work in the future. Its influence becomes overriding and suppresses new ideas.

Usually development reaches a plateau, as the premises for their rise in the first place, presented as the initial conditions, confine and determine the extent to which they can develop or even the kinds of development possible. These initial conditions which can be taken as the foundations of the system(s) built, do not offer any room for further development. Any further development is impossible. Further development is only possible by acting on the very foundations that the system(s) are built. Shaking at the very foundations of the built system(s).

An example of such process is provided by the rise in France of the Bourbaki movement in the 1930s among young mathematicians, presented in this article from PlanetMath website.

The system comprising the state of mathematics in France at that period pushed young mathematicians toward a complete overhaul on the way mathematics were taught as they felt that older mathematicians were holding on to old practices and ignoring the new.

As it is stated:

"Bourbaki felt that the old mathematical divisions were no longer valid comparing them to ancient zoological divisions. The ancient zoologist would classify animals based on some basic superficial similarities such as “all these animals live in the ocean”. Eventually they realized that more complexity was required to classify these animals. Past mathematicians had apparently made similar mistakes : “the order in which we (Bourbaki) arranged our subjects was decided according to a logical and rational scheme. If that does not agree with what was done previously, well, it means that what was done previously has to be thrown overboard.”"

The notion, of throwing overboard what was done previously, if that does not agree with what is agreed in the present, no matter how widespread and deep-rooted it might appear to be. That goes along at every scale, even at the level of a single individual in its efforts to acquire meaning accomplished by the eclectic use of language and the subsequent application of that meaning to deal with everyday life phenomena.

"Someone should stick to language, as far as the words, the symbols used, serve their purpose, in achieving meaning, and then words should be discarded, thrown away."

Amending old and tried practices, ideas that held true in the past, instead of tampering with the initial conditions, the foundations, it will only alter superficially a given system, as the limits have already been reached. As what is required is to advance to the next stage, a higher state in the system's development where new, innovative ideas will find room to flourish and proliferate.

The prerogative of acting on the initial conditions is professed by the chaotic systems development. The sensitive dependence on a system's initial conditions, where tiny perturbations have drastic effects in the final outcome of a state. A force that is unstoppable and able to carry forward whatever changes have touched and are about the initial conditions of any given system.

Any attempts to stifle such drive, goes against the premises of natural development, futile attempts of a system in its dying throes to perpetuate its existence, destined to fail as it stands against a much larger force.

Does the pruning of unused synapses happens more often and much faster than has been thought of? Does the phrase 'make-up my mind' is a literal equivalent of a pruning process, the severing of all unused synapses, lightening the burden, getting rid off unnecessary baggage and therefore streamlining the thinking process? Coupled with an equally fast ability to form new synapses? On-the-fly? Thus improving the efficiency of the thought process? The analysis of the problem and the solution used to assist in the making of a decision?

And any difference attributed to individuals, depend upon how fast or how slow that pruning and synapse-forming processes are? Which would determine the levels of efficiency? That probably would entail a better use of neurotransmitter substances or other brain-enhancing chemicals produced by cells, their production directly controlled by the genes in genetic make-up carried by individuals? A quick learner's aptitude based on an ability to create synapses very fast, on-the-fly?

Creativity and other innovative faculties a result of the speed of forming of synapses between disparate locations in the brain? And the oblivion that sets in, on the ways we take, in the course of our lives, a paradigm shift in every level, a literal cutting off of the synapses responsible for the abandoned thought processes? A severe pruning that makes us to totally forget our old ways?

Consciousness sinister role

Consciousness plays a much bigger and more sinister role, than I would expect or have even contemplated as yet. Because not only from within an individual but from the mirrors of its image in other individuals, a yours/theirs consciousness, is ever ready to praise or mollify you.

It is when you identify yourself, sheepishly follow, with whatever it prescribes for you, hooked hopelessly to whims of yours/theirs consciousness, when everything goes awry. The mirrored consciousness becomes enhanced, blown out of proportion, exaggerated. You usually become trapped, unable to get free, either from its deriding claws, a helpless pawn or a pitiful buffoon from its overindulgent attention, when it places you in a pedestal.

It has been widely accepted that the human individual is a social being, that can not exist by itself. That the human individual thrives among other individuals. That idea brings along a horde of other ideas, which are needless and surplus to requirements and incapacitate our potential. Hinders our efforts to think of ourselves, by ourselves, for ourselves. Our consciousness development is overly influenced. Instead of the individual promoting its singleness, it submits unquestionably to the commands of a pack consciousness, our very own consciousness becoming the overseer.

Julian Jaynes puts as the generating power that created consciousness, the language. That consciousness as we know it has evolved as a result of the evolution of language.

Social consciousness and its contents need be examined as I suspect it plays an important role in shaping the way the individual makes decisions.

Concepts and especially redundant concepts that have developed as consciousness has evolved, determine its contents, the stimuli that consciousness will draw its attention to.

Concepts that do not reflect reality have created a world of their own, and are responsible for the illusions individuals have in deciphering what reality is. As they are not directly related to reality therefore their contents are out of reality, they are unreal, only illusions.

Therefore in order to clear the debris consciousness is riddled with, we should look at language as language is responsible for bringing them in, spawn them, in the first place. And we are talking about the 'problem solving/decision making' consciousness mainly. The language made it and the language controls it. There are myriad of choices laid out before us and our freedom of choice becomes overwhelmed. It becomes a freedom to ignore than a freedom to choose. The data the world lays in our doorstep are abundant, too many for all to be processed. We need to separate the wheat from the chuff.

Our freedom of choice is largely employed to ignore more than to choose. Alternative viewpoints presented to us and actions suggested are not considered. A rich bank of alternative ways of providing solutions to problems already exists in the world wide web, but we can not do anything but disregard a lot of them primarily because the pressures every day life bestows upon us, are so overwhelming that give us no time to fully explore their significance and applicability. The simplified models, each of us follow, become so overriding that push their directives right in front of us demanding to be chosen. Choices alien to our needs. The pressures to be in tune with others are paramount.

People continuously talk about the freedom of choice and raise that particular quality of mind to heights unparalleled for any of the qualities the human mind possess. They cherish their freedom of will more than it deserves, even when the choices made prove to be detrimental to their lives. It becomes so overriding in providing solutions to problems faced, that ignores all other options presented.

It stems from a general behaviour prevalent in the group each of us belongs to, and as a result the principle of being free to choose become free to choose to ignore. General behaviour based on cultural norms and attitudes that have constantly been an inexhaustible source of powerful suggestions. Suggestions which lead us towards adapting norms in our behaviour as caused by an external source instead of the self. We act how we believe we are supposed to act. Qualities like self-esteem and assertiveness is driving us to succumb to suggestions more easily. As we measure our self-esteem and assertiveness by gauging at the surrounding individuals responses, taking their suggestions as guides in our pursuit of achieving self-esteem and assertivenesses and therefore tend to conform overtly to the views of others without private acceptance or experience. Exhibit behavioral compliance without our acceptance or belief.

Our lives, soap bubbles.

We build our lives along apparently rigid solid foundations but in reality they are nothing but fragile soap bubbles that a little prick will burst them open, shedding their contents wide open. In the meantime we go about undeterred, oozing from assurance, boasting content within our little worlds unaware and unprepared from that little prick that lurks around the corner.

The little prick, the insignificant fluttering from a tiny butterfly will wreak havoc in our lives. Immersed deeply we go about in the world among other individuals, with their lives similar soap bubbles, and built together bigger soap bubbles. We share our ideas, our ways of life, we relate to and become even more content and secure. But again the fact remains, that these bigger bubbles are just as fragile and just a little prick will burst them open too.

In fact our whole world is just a soap bubble too which accordingly a tiny little prick will burst it open. All the furore of global warming bears witness. Though it does not need that. The conditions that make our world able to support life are so fragile that a tiny perturbation, in comparison, on either side would have made it inhospitable and our human presence doubtful.

We live at an edge whether we like it or not. We can not do anything. The only thing we can do is to be aware of it and from time to time it pays to come out of our bubbles and look at them exactly as they are. Soap bubbles that a little prick can burst them open, as we talk.

It will make our lives and the lives of other individuals around us easier.

I was impressed last time out in the blogs. Some of my consciousness strings got pulled, and by consciousness I refer to the things I pay attention to, the things I hold dear, the things I find important, the things I find worth reading, talking and listening about.
I felt like I was paying a visit and had a chat. Got to know you. I kept some things of yours for myself though. Like the profound "I am greater than the sum of my parts", what better way for one to describe oneself, the strange dislikes (fish eggs) some people have, the "insurmountable inertia of mere existence" whereas another blog stated that as we grow "we absorb our culture's arrogant conviction that we manufacture everything" in protest against looking at the world as raw material in need of our ingenuity to put value in. I think probably they will not see eye to eye with the blog where passion is framed and used to promote sales, a commodity. From the same circles still there comes a deep insight of human nature, a measure of the influence each has over another as they elaborate on the concept of "social proof, a powerful psychological mechanism by which we look to others to guide our own actions", the recent massacre in a school in Finland stands as an example.
A similar website offered tips about blogging but I prefer the kind of blogging where you put your stream-of-consciousness window into your faulty mind out there, and it attracts like-minded readers and when I can go on your blog and in your brain via the internet.

Constants are not constant

Constants are not the rigid structures, the unquestionable truths which we are
led to accept but rather is the fruit of the limitations of the human intellect to fully comprehend nature's workings.

One of the many widespread beliefs in every culture is, that you can not change
your character, attitude and behaviour, your way of life, your life. It becomes a nagging reality, an inescapable feature for an individual. They represent constants in the very same way as the constants in hard sciences.

The introduction of Gerald Schueler, in his paper "The order/chaos relationship in complex systems" gives an intriguing use of constants. Or rather an ignored dimension of the concept of constant.

Let start again to appreciate the depth of his observation. Nonlinear equations have
been known for a long time, but no one was able to solve them. Traditional scientists
and engineers simply ignored the nonlinear portions of their calculations, the
nonlinear solutions to the equations, and instead used solutions which are close
approximations than exact. They contain one or more factors of nonlinearity which are
typically ignored, or approximated by using constants.

Constants are a recurring thing in almost all aspects of knowledge accumulated in the

task of explaining phenomena in the world. To accept this line of thought regarding

their origin and the reason for being introduced in the first place poses questions

in need of answers.

The constants are ubiquitous objects, their use is universal and

usually goes along unquestioned. Their use surpasses the limited boundaries of the

hard sciences and have permeated into areas defined by aspects of an individual's

activities including human behaviour and personality attributes. Their rigid

unquestionable use by the sciences have enforced a similar stance while used in much

softer subjects.

My impetuous mind goes to such lengths which even compels me towards a complete

overhaul of many established values for which to a great extent they have been based

in accepting without question a great number of constants. The alternative is to

refuse the overbearing burden imposed by the overwhelming beliefs and norms prevalent

in society and instead to constantly seek the underlying causes in a manner dictated

by the premises of chaos, complexity and emergence.

Adopting incorrect viewpoints leads to knowledge incapable to explain phenomena

     Nature is quite frugal in the amount of information that makes available for us to understand and explain phenomena. Therefore we rely on a limited set of features and conditions pertained in the phenomena, to build knowledge and improve understanding. Moreover, our capacity to discern subtle differences in features and conditions, is limited and this further deteriorates the quality of knowledge gained.

      This continues on when we assign incorrect weights in selected attributes driven by motives other than valid reason. Such action ignores valid attributes, or even distort chosen attributes, misrepresenting the phenomenon. Assumed viewpoints lead to a body of knowledge incapable of explaining the phenomena in question. The knowledge thus produced is incomplete, in its mild form, misleading and unrealistic, to outright harmful, in its most severe form.

     This process affects all knowledge systems, humans develop to explain phenomena. From the physical sciences to the social sciences to the systems of knowledge we develop to explain social and historical phenomena. Phenomena that are driven by human interactions in the scale of civilisations, societies and communities as well as to the scale of markets, organisations, industries, educational establishments, workplaces, right down to an individual's own personal relationships.

     This is more significant if attained knowledge is used to define the behaviour of human individuals in social structures. Assuming the chaotic influence in the evolution of life systems, behaviour so defined is reproduced by self-similarity across scales. Reproduced patterns of behaviour, spread and become dominant. They form a set of automated responses, habits, and provide the rules for human-agent interactions. Human-agent interactions, that are based upon incomplete, misleading, unrealistic or harmful body of knowledge, adversely affect the systems they provide the foundations for. Thus systems, by definition, have a built-in element of self-doubt that erode their integrity from within.

Our linear and non-linear lives

     Describe the ways changes propagate in our lives, under the constant cause and effect relationships between the conditions of the environment and features of the agents in a system. Conditions and features vary, they are variable. Variables of either features or conditions, become connected with one another by the cause and effect relationships.

     The variable that causes a change in another variable is the independent variable and the variable the effect is directed to the dependent variable. The changed dependent variable acts further as an independent variable, and becomes the cause for change in other dependent variables. These, in turn, affect other variables and so on, creating chain reactions that propagate within the state space of a particular system.

     Affected variables change the conditions and features in a system. The system undergoes a transformation. The transformation is either linear or non-linear. Whether a certain transformation is linear or non-linear is consequent to the position of the independent variable in the dependency hierarchy. The lower in the hierarchy the independent variable is, the greater the transformation effected upon the state of the system, as it will affect a great many variables in the chain-wise fashion, and the greater the effect, the greater the transformation, a greater amount of change. It is described as an exponential function and in a graph is drawn, not with a straight line but with a curved line, a hyperbola, therefore the non-linear term.

     Linear transformation takes place when the independent variable is found higher in the dependency hierarchy of variables in a system therefore it affects a smaller number of variables, a limited effect, a smaller size of transformation. In a graph its effect is shown by a straight line, a linear transformation. Most of the transformations in real life phenomena are linear transformations.

     The linear or non-linear mode of transformation effected by interacting variables is universal and apply to all systems in each end of the scale, from the microscales to the macroscales. John Gribbin mentions about the expansion of the Universe: "That, today the Universe is expanding at a more or less steady rate, in a linear fashion. It is like a walk down the road, in which each step takes you the same distance as the previous step. But in the very early Universe, the scalar fields that we have mentioned caused exponential expansion. This is like taking a walk in which the second step takes you twice as far as the first step, the third step four times as far, the fourth step eight times as far, and so on".
     So in a linear transformation, the dependent variable matches step by step the independent variable whereas in the non-linear transformation a step in the independent variable can be matched by hundreds of steps by the dependent variable.

In our lives this can be seen in the events that surround the beginning of romantic relationships as is accompanied by excitement anticipation and fervour, when we first meet the person we start a relationship with, the non-linear phase. Later on as this is followed by a settling down period, we enter the linear phase. If at the weekend we stay home and relax then we are content being in a linear state, whereas if we go out have fun and enjoy ourselves we enter the non-linear phase. We always make choices in life in what path to follow, linear or non-linear; what mode to engage into at any time. We lead either linear or non-linear lives.

Pinpointing phenomena and states

     Multitude of states. Phenomena are, what we experience as the development of states. Phenomenon describes how states came to be, or come about. Phenomenon description contains the features, the rules, and the states that result by the application of the rules. An agent, (in the case of "adapting chaos in our lives", the individual), applies, follows, enforces the rules. Agents, in the case of chemical reactions, are the atoms, and the atoms are the entities that follow the rules, as they interact with one another. The features in this case, are the electrons in their outer electron shell, which represent the conditions. Are these the conditions? And what about heat, pressure, concentration? Are these not, the conditions? Certainly they are. Can we refer to the features of: outer electron shells, atom size, isotopes as conditions? Certainly not. Conditions refer to the state of the environment, where the agent acts in, whereas features, to the state of the agent. Both can be described by variables. Conditions are continuous variables, taking values within a given range and features are discontinuous variables, discrete states, constants just as parameters are defined. A calium atom has for example two electrons in the outer electron shell, a given atom size. These are stable values, do not commute, the state configuration presented by that particular agent, the calcium atom.

     How can these premises be transferred to other phenomena? What would represent features and what conditions in weather phenomena, people's relationship systems, or personality constructs? Can conditions and features be both present in the weather system, for example. Conditions are easily discerned as the temperature, water content, altitude; and they are continuous. But what would constitute features? And what are the agents? Hard, not easily discerned. I need more information. That can lead to the conclusion that agent presence is not necessary for the occurrence of chaos phenomena, if I can not distinguish agents and features. Of course, a weather system involves air molecules; or not only, as other molecules are involved too. Water molecules as well as dust, all mixed up to form fluid, confined within a vast but nevertheless finite space. These certainly can be regarded as agents, and the features presented by these agents, along with rules directing interactions, are responsible for the weather phenomena.

     Are these the only features? What else? What about the space, all these molecules are included in. Or regions of space, as weather phenomena are developing locally. Would it be then, more spread out, parameters that have to do with features presented as masses of air molecules and not as single molecules. Molecule-population-connected features, which once the population of molecules reaches an adequate size, it presents the features, becomes the agent, which responds to the existing, prevailing conditions and develops, in the states described by the phenomena of rain, wind, storm, hurricane.

What about phenomena of personality constructs?

     What would be the conditions, the features, the agents? Certainly the main candidate for agent is the individual itself. But when we are talking about personality, it is a structure based on that very same individual, that we assume as agent. Can it be possible to have an agent that acts upon itself? The space where all these activity takes place, within it? Features, yes, we can discern. But what about rules? What are the rules that the agent, within the agent follows? What is personality for that matter? Everything that defines us as a person. How good we are at things that we do, what makes us tick, what triggers our emotions, to what extent our emotions are expressed, how tuned we are to changes around us. OK, that's enough. Can we discern any agent among these, any carrier, rules followed? Any features? Rules must be simple. Features must be stable, discreet variables, given parameters. There are features, all these genetically determined qualities, imprinted in our genomes.

     But how can genes determine features? That can act as agent features? Let us consider about how good we are at things we do. Depending on the task to do, we take a different approach. If the task is physical, it requires dexterity of hands, arms, legs and dexterity is determined by genes. We are equipped by birth, with abilities which we make use, to accomplish physical tasks. In the same way we handle mental tasks, which again depend on the level of ability, as dictated by genes responsible for the construction of our brain, brain mechanisms, the neurons, the nerve cells.

     Neurons, and not only, as they act as groups of neurons, each group with a specific task at hand. Can we say that these groups of neurons, are the agents; with stable features, discreet, given parameters, non-commutable that define a state, the state of our mind? Our mind presents different aspects, mental planes, each mind aspect, a component of mind is brought about, out of the physical interactions, of their designated neuron groups. And mind, the whole, out of the interactions of its component aspects, along with the associated neuron groups.

     And there, there are the features, the stable, discreet, non-commutable and genetically determined. And these are, the neuron firing patterns, firing threshold of neuron, neuron fatigue, degree of development of specialised regions of the brain (themselves neuron groups) all genetically determined and stable. Do the groups of neurons constitute the agent? Can we say that our personality is constructed by the interaction of groups of neurons? What about the conditions?

     The continuous variables, the environment within which the agent acts? If the groups of neurons are regarded as agents, then the environment is our brain itself. The internal conditions that affect our brain mechanisms. The level of oxygen, of glucose, of neurotransmitters, of sodium and potassium ions. Their presence or absence, their concentration, as they are regulated by diet as well as by the different situations an individual finds itself in. As the internal environment mirrors the external environment, in a specific manner for each indiviual, as it reflects its genetically determined features of neuron activity.

     So there, these are the features and conditions that determine personality constructs and influence people's relationships. But what about rules? .....

abc1 sitcom comedy "Less than perfect" episode, Lydia's (played by Andrea Parker) and Jeb's (played by Patrick Warburton) relationship reaches breakpoint when innuendos about imaginary dates shake each other emotionally and physically, leaving both shattered, as each other's comments, about going-out on dates with other people, undermines their system of beliefs, by creating shifts on the initial conditions upon which the system of their relationship has been built.

Life situations tinkering with chaos determinants as the punts, the innuendos, the jibes, are targeted to shake up the initial conditions each has established its personality structure around, a bona fide system by itself, entitled to the same treatment as hard-edged systems as the weather, by the all-including chaos principles of universality and self-similarity. The shattering of their relationship structure similar to hurricane development in a weather system, symmetry of large to small scales, as both cases respond violently to minute changes in the initial conditions.
